New Buildings & Construction

Muir Engineering provides electrical engineering services for new construction projects across commercial, residential, industrial, institutional, and mixed-use sectors throughout British Columbia.

We typically work as a subconsultant alongside architects, developers, construction companies, and other engineering disciplines to support projects from initial concept through to final completion. Our team assists throughout the full project lifecycle — from schematic design and detailed design, through building permit and tender, and into contract administration and construction support during the building phase.

Our services may include:

  • Electrical power distribution design

  • Lighting and lighting controls

  • Fire alarm and life safety systems

  • Emergency power systems

  • Communications and low-voltage systems

  • EV charging infrastructure

  • Utility coordination and site servicing

  • Field reviews and construction support

During construction, we work closely with contractors and project teams to respond to site questions, review shop drawings and submittals, conduct field reviews, and help ensure the electrical systems are installed in accordance with the design intent and applicable codes.

Our experience includes a wide variety of projects throughout BC, including:

  • Apartment and multi-family residential buildings

  • BC Housing developments

  • Commercial and mixed-use buildings

  • Wellness and community centres

  • First Nations projects

  • Industrial and municipal facilities

At Muir Engineering, we focus on practical, coordinated electrical designs that help move projects efficiently from concept to completion.
