Project Type: New Construction

Cascadian Woodtech is a custom millwork and timberframe manufacturer based in the Comox Valley, producing staircases, railings, doors, built-in furniture, and timber frame structures, and shipping work across North America. Founded by Cyrill Werlen and Reto Schnyder, the company brings Swiss craftsmanship to Vancouver Island, using locally sourced wood and taking on projects that range from residential custom work to high-profile installations. To support their growing operation, the company constructed a new 16,269 sq. ft. medium industrial workshop with mezzanine at 4988 Island Highway South in Courtenay.

Muir Engineering provided full electrical consulting services for the new facility, including a BC Hydro service application and power distribution design sized to serve the demands of an active wood processing plant. The scope also covered LED interior and exterior lighting with ASHRAE-compliant controls, mechanical equipment connections, emergency lighting, and low voltage systems. The design aimed to consolidate the entire property under a single main electrical service, supporting an efficient and capable production environment for the growing Comox Valley manufacturer.
